Hi! I’m Irene, the person behind PiggyDex. And these are Dexter, Rocco, and Zelda: my life companions, official models, package supervisors, and—above all—the inspiration for this entire project.

We are a small family based in Madrid, and my dogs are part of practically everything we do.

That is exactly where PiggyDex came from: my love for them and the desire to create beautiful, comfortable, and functional items that we could enjoy together.

WHAT IS PIGGYDEX AND HOW DID IT START?

PiggyDex is a small Spanish dog accessory brand created in Madrid in 2021.

For a long time, I had the idea of starting my own project involving dogs, design, and creativity, but I never quite took the leap.

Then came the pandemic, and after an especially tough year, I decided it was time to give it a try.

That marked the beginning of months of hard work—testing materials, creating designs, finding suppliers, reviewing samples, photography, branding, logistics, and countless hours in front of the computer—until finally, on November 10, 2021, PiggyDex opened its doors for the first time.

We started out focusing specifically on adjustable harnesses and walking accessories. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and create new collections, always striving to maintain the same philosophy: fun designs, functionality, comfort, and plenty of color to help us enjoy life with our dogs even more.

Behind every collection lie many hours of work, but also a great deal of excitement and passion. PiggyDex remains a deeply personal, family-run project, and that is probably one of the things I love most about it.

AND WHERE DOES THE NAME COME FROM?

It all started with Dexter.

As happens in so many households with dogs, Dexter has about a thousand nicknames. One of the ones I’ve always used affectionately with him is "chancho" or "chanchito" (piggy/little pig). That’s where the idea to combine Piggy and Dex came from.

And so, PiggyDex was born.

MEET THE PIGGYDEX TEAM

Dexter is where it all began. He was the first model, the brand's inspiration, and the direct reason for its name. He’s calm, cuddly, and quite the expert at supervising work from a cozy spot.

Rocco arrived later to shake things up. He’s all energy, curiosity, and constant motion, and he has also become one of the familiar faces of PiggyDex.

Zelda is the newest addition to the family; she came home as a rescue at two and a half years old. She’s our little whirlwind, official model, and professional treat taster.

All three are part of my daily life and, in one way or another, end up being part of many of the things you see from the brand.

WHO IS BEHIND THE BRAND?

I’m Irene, the founder and creator of PiggyDex.

I love photography, drawing, design, and music, though animals have always been my greatest weakness.

PiggyDex is a small business, which means one person handles most of what you see: product design and development, photography, social media content, the website, customer service, campaign planning, and all those little tasks—both visible and invisible—that keep a brand running every day.

That said, I usually have company while I work.

Dexter, Rocco, and Zelda have their own strategic spots reserved right by my desk.

WHERE ARE WE BASED?

PiggyDex is based in Madrid, Spain.

From here, we design, prepare, and shape this little universe that began in 2021 with a pug named Dexter and an idea that had been waiting far too long to become a reality.

And here we are, growing little by little and so grateful that so many dogs and their families are now part of this story 💜
